JioMart is live
After a pilot project took off in neighbourhoods around Mumbai in late April, Reliance JioMart has now launched across 200 cities and towns of India. This soft launch allows JioMart to take a decisive step towards one day competing with the e-commerce bigwigs.
Facebook had bought a 9.99 per cent stake in Reliance Jio for Rs 43,574 crore. This partnership can augur well for both players. JioMart can especially leverage WhatsApp's reach to support small businesses. Facebook too can diversify and grow further.
As of now, there isn't a JioMart app on either the Android Google Play or Apple App Store. It may so happen that JioMart will kick off order and delivery of groceries through the Facebook-owned WhatsApp service, as was seen during the pilot project.
