According to the market research by METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry), in 2019, the size of the B2C e-commerce market in Japan increased by 7.65% year-on-year to 19.4 trillion Japanese yen (approx.167 billion EUR).
The e-commerce market for goods is making up 6.76% of total sales in B2C market. The e-commerce market via smartphones also expanded, reaching 4.3 trillion Japanese yen (approx.34 billion EUR)., increased by 12.7% YoY.
Estonian small and medium companies may want to try entering the Japanese market and sell their products on e-commerce shops. In order to do that, you need to find importers first, which requires a lot of resource and might take long time. However, there are several e-commerce service provides who help foreign companies to sell their products on Japanese e-commerce shops.
The event aims to introduce an opportunity to Estonian companies who are interested in selling their products in Japanese e-commerce shops.

Brief introduction about i-order: Established in 2001, the company provides over 12,000 brands in Japan and about 25 oversea brands with a variety of services from shop-management and consulting, to web design.
The company is an official partner of Rakuten Marketplace and has successful business links with other e-commerce sites in Japan such as Amazon Japan and Yahoo Shopping etc.
