Like many South Africans, Soweto events photographer Thando Makhubu felt the pinch when the Covid-19 lockdown came into effect in March 2020.
When jobs became limited and financial stability went out the window, the 30-year-old applied for a R350 social grant.
He saved up the money and started his own ice-cream business. He is currently employing four people.
