Amazon India is planning to relocate its corporate headquarters in Bengaluru from the World Trade Centre (WTC) to a new 1.1 million square foot facility at Sattva Horizon business park, near the city's international airport. This strategic move, expected to commence in April 2025 and complete by April 2026, is aimed at significantly reducing operational costs. Amazon is set to save approximately 4.15 crore annually in rent, as the rental rates at the new location are considerably lower compared to the ₹250 per square foot it currently pays at the WTC
The new office will feature 11 stories, accommodate over 7,000 employees, and house all of Amazon's business divisions, further strengthening its presence in Bengaluru. This follows Amazon's recent expansion efforts, including leasing additional office spaces in Gurugram and Hyderabad. While the shift is expected to optimize costs, it may create logistical challenges for its 5,000 current employees, many of whom reside near the WTC
This move aligns with Amazon's growing demand for commercial space as companies increasingly adopt a return-to-office model, driving growth in India's real estate market. Bengaluru, already leading in office space transactions, reflects this upward trend.
