Miranda Qu was born in Wuhan City, Chinain 1985. In 2006, at the age of 21, she graduated from Beijing Foreign Studies University with a degree in journalism. In 2013, she quit her comfortable and well-paying job with Bertelsmann Media, a German company to co-found Little Red Book with Charlwin Mao, who is CEO. Xiaohongshu now has over 200 million monthly active users. In 2018, Little Red Book was helped by investment of $300 million by China internet Giants of Tencents and Alibaba. She understands most of the users of her app will be women born after the 1990s. Currently, about 90% of the users of Little Red Book are women. The secret of her success is Users come before eCommerce. So she designed her app for users. Now about 90% of the content of Little Red Book is UGC (User Generated Content). Little Red Book is now one of the largest eCommerce platform in China.
