Geoarchaeologist focusing on stratigraphy and site formation processes in southern African archaeological and palaeoanthropological sites
Completed PhD research at Wits University, Johannesburg, South Africa, where is currently holds the position of Associate Professor of Geoarchaeology and Interim Director of the Wits Sterkfontein Caves Institute
Specializes in the study of cave and rock shelter sediments but leads geoarchaeological research on a diverse spectrum of fossil- and artefact-bearing sedimentary contexts, from the Namib Desert to numerous rockshelters and caves that contain deposits spanning the last 3.5 million years, including Border Cave, Strathalan Cave, Mwulu’s Cave and Ollieboomspoort.
