Parliament Impasse Continues Over Manipur |Who Is Stalling Parliament?
The Monsoon session of Parliament which has been in a logjam since it began on July 20 over the Manipur violence issue, is likely to witness another stormy session today as the government is set to introduce a bill in parliament for control of services and officers' posting in Delhi. The draft bill to replace the ordinance for creating an authority for transfers and postings of senior officers in the Delhi government has been circulated among the MPs. Ahead of the session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a key meeting with Cabinet ministers to chalk out a strategy. Meanwhile, the Opposition is likely to maintain its demand for a statement from the prime minister on the Manipur violence in both Houses of Parliament, a demand rejected by the government. They also chaired a key meeting at the Congress Parliamentary Party CPP office today ahead of the session. The opposition parties have moved a motion for no-confidence against the government, which has been admitted by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. A discussion on the no-confidence motion will take place today.
