STORYLINE:
Thousands of people marched on Sunday in Mexico City in defense of animal rights.

Participants, some with their beloved pets for company, walked across the capital to demand justice for mistreated animals.

"It's about enforcing the laws that already exist," said Mariano Anzorena, one of the organizers of the march.

"We are here fighting for those who have no voice," a fellow organizer, Angelica Prado, said.

Other participants, such as members of the Mercy for Animals group, promoted slogans in favor of ending the poor treatment of farm animals, and other groups spoke out against bullfighting.
