Taiwan is a key player in the Indo-Pacific, contributing to regional peace, security and economic prosperity. The island is a leader in promoting civil society, religious freedom, women’s empowerment and gender equality, and cybersecurity, and widely shares its governance experience. Taiwan is a full member of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum. It provides humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, and assistance with infrastructure projects. The Indo-Pacific region would greatly benefit from Taiwan's more effective integration into the regional security architecture. Deeper engagement with Indo-Pacific countries, supported by the US, is critical to achieving that goal.
Please join the China Power Project on Tuesday, January 13 from 8:30 am – 9:45 am EST for a panel discussion on Taiwan and the Indo-Pacific regional security architecture, with a focus on views from Southeast Asia and India. The panel will feature Herman Kraft (University of the Philippines at Diliman, Quezon City), Nguyen Hung Son (Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam), and Tanvi Madan (The Brookings Institution). Alan Hao Yang (National Chengchi University) will serve as a respondent. Bonnie Glaser, senior adviser for Asia and director of the China Power Project at CSIS, will moderate the panel discussion.
