ONDC CEO Thampi Koshy On Importance Of E-commerce Democratisation: India Today Conclave South

Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) CEO Thampi Koshy said democratisation of e-commerce is critical for tackling the concentration of a few major dominant players, which is not only against the economy but also hurting small sellers. He added that the concentration in the e-commerce sector is also hurting consumers.

Speaking at a session during the India Today Conclave South 2023, Thampi Koshy said the ONDC initiative is aimed at giving equal opportunities to sellers, besides increasing convenience for buyers. "Every seller will have an equal opportunity to present his case, and he can be present on any platform he likes. He is visible to a billion customers," Koshy said.

"And for buyers (consumers), they can get food, consumer goods, tickets, and hail a taxi from the same platform. It also gives very competitive options," he added.
