President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. administers the oath-taking of the new set of officers of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) in a ceremony at the Kalayaan Hall in Malacañan Palace on June 7, 2023.

“For almost 70 years, the Federation has been at the forefront of efforts to bring investments and open various economic opportunities that benefit both the Filipino-Chinese communities and the general Filipino public. Through your astuteness and acumen, the Federation and your members have injected dynamism to our country’s economy and our society, changing lives and communities in the process,” the President says in his keynote message.

Apart from FFCCCII’s economic contributions, he recognizes its socio-civic projects across the country, notably its ‘Operation: Barrio Schools’, the longest running and biggest private sector led school building construction program in the country. Since 1961, ‘Operation: Barrio Schools’ has supported the education program of Philippine Presidents to augment the country’s classroom shortage in all regions through donations from FFCCCII members and benevolent organizations, families and individuals within the Filipino-Chinese community.

During the program, President Marcos Jr. receives the scale model of a two-classroom school building from FFCCCII officials in a symbolic turnover. In return, he gives a firm assurance that his Administration will continue to support this mutually beneficial partnership.

“Cognizant of the concerns of the sector, we will of course continue to listen and exert efforts to improve business climate and foster ease and efficiency of doing business. We have taken note of the issues that you have raised during our meeting last year, and already initiated significant steps and adjustments to address these challenges,” the President states, citing that the government is exerting efforts to improve tax administration and fiscal incentives system, as well as streamlining existing regulatory mechanisms through expedited and integrated processes, and digitalization of key government services.

“As part of this Administration’s agenda, partnerships with the private sector has been actively pursued and nurtured, in recognition of its essential role that you play in our national development,” the Chief Executive emphasizes.

Established in 1954, the FFCCCII is the largest organization of Filipino-Chinese businesses with more than 170 member organizations, bringing together under one roof chambers of commerce and trade associations from various regions across the country. It is actively engaged in trading, manufacturing, service industry and other economic activities that help fuel the nation’s engine of progress. Over the years, the Federation has been a partner of government in nation building and development through the promotion of business growth and implementation of social welfare projects.
