The pandemic has had a significant impact on the Jamaican economy, particularly MSMEs. The pandemic's knock-on effects have resulted in the loss of jobs, significant decreases in business income and stark increases in outstanding debt
However, there is some good news????: the Jamaican government, in collaboration with various institutions, has launched a number of support programs aimed at assisting MSMEs in regaining their footing and, as a result, bolstering the country's economic recovery.
The DBJ’s Social and Economic Recovery and Vaccine Programme (SERVE) will provide J$3 billion to support MSMEs affected by the COVID-19 pandemic through Go-Digital Vouchers and Recovery Loans at attractive rates.
The EXIM Bank Small and Medium Tourism Enterprises Special Project Facility (SMTE) will help Small and Medium Tourism Enterprises in the tourism industry grow and develop sustainably by providing access to credit at a low cost.
JAMPRO will improve Jamaica's business environment by assisting SMEs in capitalizing on the global export market's infinite potential and facilitating investment.
We will be joined by Lisa Bell, Managing Director, Exim Bank, Diane Edwards, President JAMPRO, Edison Galbraith, General Manager- Channels, Relationship & Marketing Development Bank of Jamaica (DBJ).
