HAPPENING NOW—CUOMO UPDATE: Gov. Cuomo offers the latest information on COVID-19 in New York. A federal judge in New York yesterday ruled that the state cannot cancel it’s Democratic Presidential primary, saying that such a move is unconstitutional. Former presidential candidate Andrew Yang filed the lawsuit against the state, and Sen. Bernie Sanders voiced his opposition to the move as well, even though Joe Biden remains the presumptive nominee. Sanders’ campaign put out a statement supporting the judge’s decision, saying that ‘people in every state should have the right to express their preference in the 2020 Democratic primary. We have confidence that New York can hold elections in June in a safe manner that preserves New Yorkers’ right to vote.’ Members of the State Board of Elections said that they are ‘reviewing the decision and preparing an appeal.’
