You can't that you've made it to a destination that's out of town if you have only driven the vehicle to the end of the driveway. But, maybe after the driveway, can get to the stop sign, then to the traffic light. Let's take it to the highway, etc. Now, you can say that you've made some progress and finally made it to your desired goal.
