Most people who run Facebook ads overlook two key areas. It isn’t anyones fault. Facebook ads are constantly changing. They are constantly improving platform experience, updating the algorithm, and changing the way that we can run ads.A lot of people who run Facebook ads do so the same way they were taught 5-6 years ago.And although some fundamental practices still hold true… there are two key things have changed over the last year that I see a lot of buyers and brands missing.#1 - Trying to do too much with ad creatives. Now I, as much as anyone, is an advocate for volume.Volume increases shots on goal which can lead to more opportunities to learn and scale an ad account.
But the key here is something I like to call “filtered volume”.That filter is taking your customer avatar and before an ad goes into production, overlaying that avatar and asking if that ideal customer would respond to the messaging.I don’t care if it is a static or if it’s video, you have to ask yourself WHO is this for.Too many people push volume and lose sight of who we are actually creating the ad for.Build your customer avatar doc, build creative around that person, and watch your hit rate on ads skyrocket.
#2 - Thinking I am smarter than the Facebook algorithmLook, for the OGs out there, I hate to break it to you but we are no longer smarter than what Meta is creating. For years I fought change. You want CBO? No thanks. You want me to trust machine learning and let things “get out of learning phase”… F*ck that. But this year, candidly, my results struggled in February and March for my clients. We had moments but consistency was just not there. That was… until I learned about this new Andromeda update and started to understand what that meant.Well to keep it short, it means I actually need to trust Meta. And in doing so… we have 3 clients spending well over 10k per day and within KPIs.There is a change here… and when you get #1 right, #2 plays well into that hand.Let me know if you want me to break this down further in future videos by letting me know in the comments.
