The GST council has decided to keep the 28% GST on online gaming. The tax will be levied on entry-level amounts. This is as opposed to the feared taxation on every bet. FM Sitharaman also shared how the council is aiming to implement the tax by October 1 of this year and come back to review it in the following 6 months. The council will also work on a framework for overseas e-gaming platforms. Govt may bring amendments to the GST act to include online gaming in the current parliament session.
