This webinar provides a brief introduction to lipedema, basic pathophysiology, differential diagnosis, current treatment tools, interventions and define research futures, needs and gaps. This webinar is specifically designed for the provider who wants to expand their knowledge, differential diagnostic skills and apply that to individualized treatment programs for patients with lipedema.
At the conclusion of the presentation, participants will:
1. Obtain a basic understanding of research and diagnostic tools, outcome measures and quality of life questionnaires for musculoskeletal, incontinence and sexual dysfunction complaints in patients with lipedema
2. Understand options for clinical treatment interventions including: therapeutic exercise, manual therapy techniques and use of compression garments
3. Understand current research and gaps with a call to action for the physical therapy community to familiarize themselves with and become forerunners in the support of patients with lipedema.
