Walmart took the retail world by storm in the 1960s with their rock bottom prices driven by their incredible supply chain and focus on cutting costs. Since then they have grown into the largest company in the world both by revenue and number of employees. They have grown so dominant that their only real competitor in the US is Amazon "The Everything Store." With Walmart now entering the banking industry, it will be very interesting to see how they use their size and track record of cutting costs to influence banking both for their customers and for the industry as a whole. In this video I look at why Walmart is starting a fin tech startup, what I think this means for both them and industry, and whether or not I personally will be investing in their stock based on this news.
