On the 23rd June Instagram released an announcement that “Whether you are a candle business making a foray into e-commerce, a musician selling merch or a food blogger expanding into your own cookware line, any eligible business or creator account with at least one eligible product can use shopping tags to drive people to their website to make a purchase. “
There is also a beta trail in the States at the moment that allows people to complete their purchase from within Instagram which is very “we chatty” lol.
With the new policy from Instagram each business account must tag its products on Instagram from a single website that they must own and sell from. There is a new approval and on-boarding process so if you are not signed up yet you will get a notification in-app with instructions on how to make their account apply with these new rules.
