Inside Suddi: Karnataka Government Concedes Sandalwood Demand, Allows 100% Occupancy In Cinemas. The state government has allowed cinema halls in Karnataka to operate with 100% occupancy for four weeks. Starting from Friday (February 5), the film theatres will be allowed to operate with full capacity, with Covid appropriate measures followed for four weeks. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting chaired by health minister K Sudhakar and minister for information and public relations CC Patil. Members from the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, representatives from the industry including actor Shivarajkumar took part in the meeting along with members of the Technical Advisory Committee. Though the central government had permitted the cinema halls to operate in full capacity from February 1 onwards, the state governments were suggested to take a call based on the Covid situation. On Tuesday, chief secretary P Ravi Kumar had issued a circular, based on the technical advisory committee’s suggestions that as a matter of abundant precaution and in the larger interest of public health, only 50 % seating will be continued in cinema halls till February 28.
