With the amount of information online these days people need something to hold on to.
You've probably heard that first impressions matter.
Anchoring refers to people's tendency to remember the first piece of information that they see.
They often use that information to guide their decision-making afterwards.
This means that if a customer sees an item at a higher price and then the discounted price shortly after, they might be more likely to make a purchase.
So if you're running a sale, make sure to include the initial price next to the discounted price.
Clearly show shoppers what the cost was versus what it is right now.
