A coalition of diverse organizations has formed in Iowa to defeat the Cancer Gag Act. This bill would prevent Iowans from receiving justice when their lives are upended and cut short by cancer causing pesticides. Introduced last legislative session as SF 2412, the bill’s language effectively gives pesticide companies immunity from lawsuits brought by Iowans injured by their products.

Our state ranks second in the nation for cancer incidence and is the only state where cancer rates are on the rise. Meanwhile, the pesticide industry, led by Bayer, is lobbying our lawmakers for immunity from legal action. Bayer and friends would like nothing more than to avoid accountability to the people of Iowa.

Food & Water Watch, Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement, Iowa Environmental Council, Progress Iowa, and the Pesticide Action & Agroecology Network are uniting in a campaign to kill the Cancer Gag Act.
