I Quit Listing on Ebay for 4 Months… Here’s What Happened.

I quit selling on eBay for 4 months! I didn’t list a single new item.. So:
What happened to my sales?
What did I learn?
Will I start listing on ebay again? Or Is eBay a thing of the past?

We’re going to go over those questions, and a few other things in this video, so stay tuned to the end to find out what happened when I quit ebay for 4 months..

I haven’t listed anything on my eBay store since June… What happens when you stop listing on eBay for 5 months? Do you eBay sales decrease? Do they increase? Well, I can only tell you what happened to me…

But first, let’s talk about
Why?
1. I’m currently attempting to build another business and It was imperative that I spend as much focused energy on it as I could, even if it meant my eBay sales suffered.
2. Health. I was burned out, had been dealing with some health concerns and just didn’t feel like it
3. Took some time to re-evaluate my business and see if reselling/ebay was what I wanted to continue doing. If you want a video on my thought process there, let me know in the comments.

Also, while you’re down there, thump that like button if you would please, it helps my channel out.

So, let’s get into it! But first, a couple caveats..

1. I did have a few items that were “re-listed” during that 5 months because they were returns and/or cancellations, so I did resist those. But I didn’t actually sit down and list anything new.
2. I did end & re-list 10 items in August as a test to see if it would increase my ebay sales at all…. It didn’t. All 10 are still unsold.

Ebay Account stats since I stopped listing on June 24th.
236 Active Listings
Listings as of today: 151
Sales in June - 38 - $2551.32 - ASV: $67.14
Sales in July - 22 - $1290.64 - ASV: $58.66
Sales in Aug - 10 - $555.40 - ASV: $55.54
Sales in Sept - 9 - $491.55 - ASV: $54.61
Sales in Oct - 6 - $419.69 - ASV: $69.94

Some observations
First 2 months I did absolutely nothing. Sales decreased massively, pretty obvious.

Last 2 months, I updated pricing ~once a week, and sent offers to watchers. I noticed that when I updated pricing, almost immediately I would get more watchers, indicating that just a small change would make eBay bump your listings.

What I re-discovered:
1. eBay is NOT a passive income stream, at least the way that I operate on the platform. Essentially you’re only as good as the last listing you upload, and you stop making money very shortly after you stop listing.
2. IF I intend to keep selling on eBay, I need to hire a helper and start outsourcing some of my tasks. I am the bottleneck in my business.
3. An exit strategy is a weak point for my business right now. If there were suddenly a reason that I had to walk away quickly, I would be forced to liquidate at a huge discount to get out from under all of my inventory.
