Checkout on Instagram is already being Beta tested in the US with huge brands like Huda Beauty M·A·C Cosmetics ZARA Nike Balmain H&M Prada NET-A-PORTER
The feature builds on the popular product tagging available to those with a website who have integrated their product feed, by allowing images to be tagged with a link to the product, but then remove the friction of going to the merchants website & leaving IG. Checkout on Instagram then allows you to pick product options on the app select your payment method & delivery options & press the buy button directly within the Instagram app & then receive notifications when your order has been dispatched.
This will be a total game changer for anyone with an eCommerce site selling products & we highly recommend you start to leverage product tagging whilst its still a free feature before the IG checkout rolls out worldwide & they adopt a paid strategy.
This also ties in with how Google are working hard to Implement there buy within search button which was tested as Google Express but will be offered as an add on to Google Shopping
