Also, did you know that 63 percent of shopping occasions begin online? It is essential for the businesses to go online to access more customers and increase their visibility in the market.
Before we start, if you are still not sure if you want to take your business online, please watch this video here. I give you 5 Things to Know BEFORE You Start an E-commerce Business. If you are certain you want to take this next step, hang in there! Let’s do this.
So the first thing to know is what kind of business do you already have? Do you have a physical store? Do you have a brand? Do you sell second hand products, or do you wholesale?
You have to decide where you are going to sell your products. If you are going to sell your product on a marketplace, on your own website, or in both.
Selling on a marketplace is selling on platforms like eBay or Amazon. Selling on your own website you can create a website on Shopify and similar and sell your products through it.
Every channel has its own pros and cons. Some products sell better on Amazon other sell better on eBay. Some will work even better on your own website.
Important thing to know is when selling on your own website you are responsible for driving the traffic, so before you decide to go with your own website you have to check if your product fits facebook marketing. Or if there is demand on google shopping which are the 2 main sources of traffic.
Now when you know what it means selling things online and where you can actually sell your products. Let's jump to the steps you need to take…
Step 1 - Research what channel is best for your product
Step 2 - Research the market, demand, competition, prices and shipping options
Step 3 - Set up your store
Step 4 - Set up your fulfilment process, packaging, shipping, etc.
Step 5 - List your products to your store and make sure it is fully optimized
Step 1 - Research what channel is best for your product, is basically what I went over before, research which channel is more appropriate for you.
Step 2 - Research the market, demand, competition, prices and shipping options. For that ladies and gentleman, I asked Nahar Geva, founder and CEO of Zik Analytics, to show you how you can do effective market research to make sure you can compete and get sales before any initial investment! Check it out!
Great value eh? Link to Zik Analytics is in the description. So step 3 is to set up your store. We have an amazing video showing you how to create an eBay store, step by step, link here
Step 4 - Set up your fulfilment process, packaging, shipping. I know this sounds difficult but relax, it is not that scary.
Just spend some time planning your approach to shipping and inventory management. Think about how you'll handle your packages and real-time shipping rates, where you will store your inventory? in your home? garage? or fulfilment center? I’m working on a video about setting up the fulfilment process so make sure you subscribe to our channel for it!
Step 5 - List your products to your store and make sure it is fully optimized.
Another important thing to do is to keep products and prices aligned in your eBay store or on your website.
Seriously, for the businesses, who are selling their products online and offline, they should not keep a lot of difference between the offline shop and the online prices of the product because it would have a bad impact on the customers.
