today, i discuss more about the brand process on Amazon and the frustrating issues experienced for brands and private label sellers before the introduction of GS1 and gated and protected brands, i also discuss more about what tools are available and 7 tips to protect your list of brands if you are a manufacturer.
Some FAQ content:
What’s the best strategy if we have a hybrid seller and vendor central account?
Vendor central content always takes precedent if the product is listed on here, it is also worth making sure that your brand registry account is associated to both accounts, this is why we highly recommend having you use the same email address for your vendor, seller and brand registry admins, you may also want to make sure that your products are not set to “permanently unavailable” as may restrict you from updating content.
What if the product isn’t on vendor central and just seller?
Then you will be fine making adjustments on seller and controlling your ASIN through seller central.
My products are for the same brand but i still can’t get them into the right variations?
Another common issue we find with protecting our brands is that child products do not always fit together in a variation family. What we have found is that, typically this is due to the products being incorrectly categorised when they have been created. This may need a flat file CSV to correct and maybe a category listings report download to see where the issues are.
How do we stop a retailer selling our products on Amazon?
Even using Amazon brand registry tools this is not possible unless you have successfully launched onto project zero. To do this you will need to have made successful policy violations to Amazon in the past six weeks, this will help restrict sellers from creating brands under your brand name but even then, if a retailer legitimately has a product of yours for sale, the marketplace may still accept their competing offer.
Can I register my brand on Amazon without a trademark?
It depends how you mean “register”. You can get your product approved for sale on Amazon, but without a trademark you cannot use Amazon brand registry tools being able to protect your brand, use storefront and A+ content and vine reviews as well as brand analytics.
