For this Shopify store, which has done well over half a million dollars since January, 98% of the traffic comes from Google. The overall strategies stay the exact same however, the specifics I use to research products have changed. Some of them include:
25,000+ monthly searches
$100 - $200 selling price
Product availability on Amazon / eBay
Once these metrics are confirmed, I add the product to my store and my testing campaigns automatically test it. The general layout of my testing campaigns are as follows:
2 general testing campaigns (low and high bid)
1 smart shopping campaign
Multiple single product campaigns
SKAGs
I throw in some retargeting traffic from Facebook ADs and some cold traffic from Bing ADs to really push the overall sales amount. This is combined with multiple different scaling techniques with Google, such as raising budget every 7 - 14 days, increasing product price while lowering cogs, using target roas, and adding more products that are similar to previous winners.
