10 IDEAS TO ENGAGE WITH GOD'S WORD
1. Know the blessing of the Bible
2. Engage with Scripture in more than one way (read, listen, meditate, memorize, study)
3. Know the purpose of spending time in God's Word
4. Ask the key question: what does this passage reveal about God, His nature (character), His plan, and His purposes?
5. Get the big picture (author, audience, purpose, background, genre, outline, major themes and topics)
6. Context (historical, cultural, grammatical (words and meanings), literary (genre), Scriptural placement, geographical, visual)
7. Ask questions (make observations)
8. Look for the principle (key truth) of the passage
9. How does this passage change my life? (apply the passage)
10. Keep pressing in!
