We know that shopping malls are exciting but did you know that India's first shopping mall was built in 1860s by brittishers? This mall was built in Chennai, but due to the British raj majority of Indians preferred street shopping.

After the 1990s liberalisation more shopping malls were introduced but still it was expensive so people still preferred streets shopping.

You might have seen those TV ads of before and after effects, with overacting of some people. This teleshopping changed the concept of shopping in India.

But the major change was brought by K Vishwanathan, who is also known as "Father of Indian E-commerce" He started India's first E-commerce website "fabmart.com" but because of the early stage of internet people did not accept it on large scale, so it made losses and shut down.

Coming back to teleshopping, naaptol and homeshop18 changed the perception of shopping by managing Teleshopping and E-commerce both. This made people have faith in ordering products online or from teleshopping.

Then in the late 2000s, there was internet boom. Which gave us websites like Flipkart, Snapdeal, Shop clues, etc. to make our lives easier than the 1980s!
