Facebook VS Google Ads for small e-commerce businesses

Today I'm responding to a Reddit post asking whether a small e-commerce business should advertise on Facebook or Google.

My take on this is that rather than the channel (WHERE you run ads), you should be asking WHO you're going to show ads to, and WHAT you're going to say to them.

It's going to be way more efficient IMO to target warm prospects who have a higher likelihood to purchase your product. The more targeted the audience, the narrower it'll be. Hence you'd get better results targeting a narrow audience in several environments, rather than targeting a larger (and less specific) audience in a single platform.

On that note, there are way more advertising channels than just Facebook and Google. You should definitely consider running efficient forms of advertising, in particular Retargeting, in as many relevant channels, as possible.
