Ecommerce for Manufacturers - The Faces of Business

One crucial step in learning about ecommerce is to know about the strategies of ecommerce for manufacturers.

In this week’s The Faces of Business episode, our guest speaker was none other than our very own Curt Anderson. Curt is the renowned author of “Stop being the best-kept secret.” Apart from this, he is also an ecommerce evangelist for manufacturers.

The conversation started with Damon introducing Curt to the show. After this Curt started talking about a few statistics regarding ecommerce for manufacturers. He said that in the last few years, eighty to ninety percent of connections are made on LinkedIn.

After this, Curt talked about how someone can be the best-kept secret without even knowing. Further elaborating on this, he said that usually, someone that has a business and works for it doesn’t market it enough.

This means that that person does not have enough connections to market his skill and business. This is when he becomes the best-kept secret.
After this, talking about ecommerce for manufacturers, Curt shared his views on some other things as well. He said that we are lucky that Covid-19 happened in 2020. This is because it gave a chance to the entire world to get into the ecommerce world.

Further, into the conversation, Damon asked Curt that when you look into this year what things do you think can make a difference? To this, Curt responded that there are a lot of MEPs in the coming years that is the Manufacturing Extension Partnership.

Curt further said that the MEPs are a great network and that his friend Steven Leto has around 10 different MEPs throughout New York State. After this curt talked a bit more about ecommerce for manufacturers.
He said that the sessions that he and Steven are doing on MEP are to teach people regarding it. Moreover, according to him, it is like teaching a person how to fish so they can fish on their own.

After this, Curt gave a few examples of his clients and how he was dealing with them. Later on, the conversation ended with Curt and Damon talking about the details of their weekly shows.

Curt Anderson:

Curt Anderson is the renowned author of “Stop Being The Best Kept Secret.” Along with this, he is an e-commerce evangelist for manufacturers as well. He has had a long journey in his path of work. In his line of effort, he has helped many e-commerce businesses to grow and flourish in their own way. So it’s safe to say that he is an e-commerce wizard.

Curt founded his e-commerce company in 1995 which was ranked 3× on the Internet Retailer Magazine’s Top 1000 ecommerce Company. Along with this Anderson has been consulting with US manufacturers since 2012 on executive e-commerce strategies.

He has 30 years of successful entrepreneurial experience along with 25 years of e-commerce experience. He has also spent four years at the New York Small Businesses Development Centre (SBDC).

Curt holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Logistics from Ohio State University and is a Certified Financial Planner from New York University.
