The strategy for beginners is to list 300 items per month, which is 10 per day. Why you may ask? Because if you list too many items in a short period of time, it will draw Ebay's attention and could lead to an account suspension. Listing items too quickly in large quantities can also result in low sales and low sell through.
With this in mind, you will want to focus on 2 types of products:
1st is “Traffic products” which are usually low price products and they have been used to generate hype of sales and help you boost your account ranking.
2nd is “Bread and butter” products are usually ranging from 20$ to 50$ these should be the majority of the products you have in your store, they will generate most of the profit.
Lets run the first scan with the turbo scanner with Amazon as supplier and go over the filters to use as a beginner.
Just remember that if you dont want to use a filter you can leave it empty. Categories to exclude as a beginner: Amazon devices, Books, CDs & Vinyl, Apple products
Because you only need 10 items per day you can be more strict on the Reviews and rating criteria, in review count you can put between 10 to 100 (you can even try higher, play with it and to see how many items you get)
Avg rating, go for 4+
When looking for Amazon products with high ratings, we are sure that we are selling products that customers on Amazon are happy with. So probably, customers on eBay will be happy as well. High rating decrease issues such as returns or negative feedback, however using such high rating can decrease dramatically the amount of item that come up in the results of the turbo scanner,
But if you place 4 plus here, and don't get enough items in the results? You can lower the average rating. It is important to know how to play with it and understand how many items you want to find, if your target is only 20 it should not be a problem but once you look for hundreds or 1000s it might be a problem and so you will need to decrease the rating.
Best seller ranking go for 15,000 - 1 or leave blank
Check the “Prime only”
For sales min 5 for sales date range of 30 days.
Selling price is very useful filter, it can help you focus on specific type of items, such as “traffic items”, “bread and butter” or “high ticket items”,
when you selling higher price items most likely the profit will be higher, however when you getting started you want to list items that will sell fast and sell a lot, these are the “traffic items” and they are usually range between 2$ to 20$ selling price.
I suggest that out of 300 items you list in your first month 20% to be “Traffic items” and 80% to be the “bread and butter”
So for this scan ill go for 2$ - 20$ selling price and name the scan traffic items, and on the next scan I will do another example of “bread and butter” items, stay with me.
Filter by keywords is- read its definition,
And to finish pick the amount of items you want to get in the results, at that stage the goal is to list 10 items per day, so therefore I will I'll write down 20 products, the reason for writing more is to be able to filter out VERO items that might come up in the results, now I'll click the start your scan button.
Now after we got the results, it is time for optimization!
Because our goal is 300 items per month only and it is your first 300 items you gonna list with bulk - I suggest you to OPTIMIZE the listings as much as possible, titles, prices, description, images, invest in your listings to build a strong and high performing store.
To optimize the title I highly suggest that you copy the competitor title after you validate it and make sure it fit the product and there is no mistake and use the title builder to upgrade the title with 1-2 new keywords, right on your competitor's success but make it with better keywords.
You can export CSV and do the optimization on the file, or you can list to one of the listers zik supports with integration and than do the optimization on their platform before listing the item to eBay.
Now lets go over it again but this time search for items selling between 20 to 50$
to maintain healthy growth and profitable product portfolio
So as you can see the previous filters saved automatically, all you need to do is change the price filter to target the “bread and butter” products so Ill choose items here between 20-50$.
Now will click the start your scan and again you have 20 unique items.
