As you think about your product launch plan, have you ever wondered how to fit shipping costs into your overall pricing? In this video, I go over some strategies that will help you reflect the price of your shipping in your product pricing.

The problem with getting an accurate quote for your product is that you first need to know how many units you're going to ship. However, by the time you know that figure, your customers have already purchased your product and so you can’t change the price. So, what can you do to set an appropriate price before you launch a campaign?

Well, there are a few things you should know before you launch your product. You should have an estimate for your 3PL rates, you should know your shipping rates, and you should know what countries you’re going to ship to. These don’t have to be exact figures, but if you can get a ballpark number for your shipping costs, you’ll have a much easier time implementing your product launch plan.

Another common issue that comes up is whether or not to offer free shipping. The answer to this question depends on your margins. How much does the product you’re selling cost? If it only costs ten or twenty dollars, you might not want to offer free shipping. However, for more expensive items, free shipping in the US may be feasible.

By having conversations with your 3PL and determining a rough estimate for your shipping costs, you can create a product launch plan that includes an appropriate price for your product. By doing so, you can avoid losing your profitability due to inadequate prices.
