Could the Tech and Smart Items Imported be Compromised already?

In this video, i had a bit of a rant on items imported from china ecommerce platforms like Temu, alibaba, aliexpress and others.
Not just importation from China, but from other countries that could be tagged high risk.

There seems not to be enough regulation or vetting of imported items, especially tech or smart items which could easily come with a backdoor, malicious chips, explosives, etc This leads me to believe there could be some dangers in these imported items coming into the country.

Could bodies like NITDA, NG-CERT, SON do more to monitor and investigate?
