MedCare Asia Pacific Director Andrew Phelan says Chinese billionaire Jack Ma has "basically disappeared," after the noted businessman has reportedly not made a public appearance in more than two months.
Mr Ma is the co-founder of the hugely successful Alibaba Group which is a Chinese e-commerce platform.
He is also among the wealthiest people in the world.
Mr Phelan spoke to Sky News host Chris Smith about the circumstances regarding the disappearance of Mr Ma, who hasn't been heard of for months.
Mr Phelan said in October, Mr Ma attended a financial conference in which he had made a speech "which had a few statements in it that the central government thought quite controversial".
"This did not go down too well in Beijing".
Mr Phelan said nothing "official" is known about Mr Ma's whereabouts currently.
"What we do know is that he's disappeared from his very own reality tv show where he was mentoring African entrepreneurs".
