This week we bring you another Special ‘Work From Home’ Edition of The Weekly News by Helium 10. And now the news!
First up, in the past few weeks, we’ve been reporting about inventory limitations, as well as Amazon trying to slow sales down by taking away shopping functionalities like deals and frequently bought together. Well, Marketplace Pulse reports Amazon has opened its warehouses back up to all items and sellers are seeing some of these shopping functionalities come back. And the inventory quantity restrictions have been removed as well. Furthermore, more sellers are reporting shipping times going back to normal. There are parts of the country (not the whole country) where people are seeing one and two day shipping come back. And it’s no longer being limited to essential items. In fact, we’re seeing it with most items. Finally, U.S. E-Commerce has skyrocketed 49% in April. New data from Adobe’s Digital Economy Index reveals that “Online shopping has become the primary means of commerce during COVID-19.” This massive jump in April is “compared to the baseline period in early March before shelter-in-place restrictions went active,” according to TechCrunch. Online grocery is up 110%, electronic sales are up 58%, and book sales are up 50%. As further proof of this growth in e-commerce, “revenue from [Amazon] advertising grew 44%. That’s faster growth than all four quarters in 2019,” according to MarketPlace Pulse. And as we have reported before, these new habits are expected to stick and become long term consumer behaviors.
