Amazon formally kicked off its presence in the e-retail space in South Africa this week under Amazon Dot CO Dot ZA (.co.za).

The platform sells goods ranging from books, sports equipment, and electronics to household supplies.

Amazon has a well-established model of selling many different goods along different product categories worldwide and sees South Africa as a ripe consumer market.
