In the Listing Optimization Webinar from a few weeks ago, Bradley and Karyn went over how you needed to be a Brand Registered Seller to take advantage of videos in the image carousel of your listing. Amazon announced this week that this will no longer be the case. They are opening up this feature to Non-Branded Registered Sellers as well.
A California Appeals Court ruled that Amazon can be held liable for faulty products sold on its website. According to an Amazon spokesperson who spoke to CNBC, “[Amazon] will appeal this decision.” Bradley states, “It’s too early to speculate on this ruling’s effects for Amazon sellers. We’ll stay on top of this story.
In our next story for those, Amazon announces new rules & regulations for its Seller Fulfilled Prime program. For those of you who do not know what Seller Fulfilled Prime is, it is a program, “Which allows sellers to designate Prime-eligible inventory without paying for Amazon’s fulfillment services,” according to CNBC. Changes include having to guarantee two-day delivery nationwide and on Saturdays.
Walmart CEO Doug McMillon addressed the buzz around the anticipated launch of Walmart+, Walmart’s subscription service “that is widely-viewed as a competitor to Amazon Prime,” according to Business Insider. Although Doug McMillon declined to give a hard date for Walmart+’s launch, he addressed how Walmart’s testing of the Delivery Unlimited program, a grocery delivery subscription service, is helping them get ready for the premier of Walmart+.
2020 has been a great year for e-commerce. Q2 Earnings Reports from Amazon, Walmart, Target, and Etsy are proof of that. Walmart reported a 97% online sales surge, Target experienced a 195% online sales increase, and Etsy reported its online sales rose 137%. Overall, e-commerce grew 44.5% in Q2, the biggest quarterly growth in more than 20 years.
