Low-income Thai families are cutting back on instant noodles after their price per packet went up from six baht (US$0.16) to seven baht (US$0.18) in August 2022. Prices of instant noodles and other staple food are controlled by the government, and rising production costs have prompted the Commerce Ministry to approve manufacturers of instant noodles to raise their prices, according to local media.
